A tradition that is part of each Trailways Camp Session is the Awards Assembly at which campers themselves are recognized for the gifts they bring, the achievements reached, and the most remarkable character reflections visible during the gathering. This tradition is carried forward to the Annual “I AM SPECIAL” Camper Reunion & Birth Day event. Upon thoughtful and spiritual reflection The Founders established The “Joyful Spirit Academy”. They announce the names of those campers who have been awarded The “Joyful Spirit” Award and have been admitted to the Academy at each “I AM SPECIAL” Reunion event.

Enabling Adults with Special Needs to Grow
Trailways Camps was established to develop and provide camping experiences for adults with special needs and respite for their caregivers. Campers thrive on having fun, friends and support while parents and caregivers are able to rest, relax and enjoy some time for themselves. Our campers are encouraged to participate in all activities. We’ve found ways to adapt and adjust for each person, and we cheer them on to victories big and small. Camp is a place where everyone is special.
