Jerry and Sharon Miller understand the challenges and requirements of adults with special needs and their caregivers, because two of their four children were born with severe disabilities caused by a rare genetic disorder. But instead of simply retiring to the Sunshine State, the couple made an indelible mark in empowering independence, providing respite and engineering life-changing opportunities by establishing the only residential camp for disabled adults here in Southwest Florida.
The three-night Trailways Camp is held three times each year at the 150-acre Riverside Camp & Retreat Center in LaBelle for campers who are older than 18 with any type of disability and who live with family or a caregiver.
